Ergos Retreat Review: ”The Sedona Retreat was a beginning of coming home to myself.” - Sara J.
Join Dr Levine and his diverse SE team this September for an intimate once-in-a-lifetime deep exploration and expansive transformational opportunity to heal The Roots of Trauma:
Somatic Threads that Weave Developmental & Intergenerational Trauma: Making the Invisible, Visible w/ Somatic Experiencing® (SE™)
We tend to believe in free will, that we ultimately determine our fate and are the captains of our ships. This belief is often challenged when working with healing developmental trauma, as we become aware of repetitive patterns of suffering and unhappiness that may have spanned generations. These connective threads are an energetic presence of unresolved trauma responses that were once activated for protection and have now been woven from generation to generation. These lingering "ghosts" can still have powerful influences on our emotions, reactions, behaviors, and choices.
At the heart of developmental trauma are adverse childhood experiences (ACE) that often discourage us from fully embodying ourselves and inhibit us from living into our capacity to be in our true, complete, authentic self-expression. These intergenerational wounds can be traced to unhealthy behaviors passed from generation to generation by our caregivers but also can include historical trauma, such as war, genocide, or slavery - compounding the effect of trauma.
Applying SE principles, Dr. Levine and his team of SE facilitators will lead us in exploring how we may be influenced by circumstances that our ancestors experienced during their lifetimes. These influences may be beyond our conscious awareness - we may have no knowledge of our ancestors. Through awareness of our unconscious connection, we can approach the complexities of our family line and childhood trauma with reverence to heal the Self.
As we explore together through small intimate groups and one-on-one sessions, we will practice bringing our often troubling stories of origin* into our somatic awareness, observing them with open eyes, an open heart, and an open mind. Connecting to great ancestral resources and vitality, known and unknown, can support us on our path to wellness.
During our collective journey, we can let go of what does not serve our future growth and claim our destinies as we move toward authentic freedom.
*This Retreat is designed for those aware of their lineage and for those who are not
“SE is not what you do but how you do what you do. The magic of the work is that SE principles can apply to all types of healing practices.” - Dr Levine
During this Retreat, we will
• Identify behaviors and emotions which may have intergenerational components
• Connect to our known and unknown ancestors through active imagination using an embodied Somatic Experiencing® (SE™) approach
• Create time for grieving and letting go with SE support
• Develop practices that connect to the energetic fields and cultivate ancestral resources
• Implement the three Orders of Love to untangle layers of ancestral conflict (belonging, reverencing, and balance between giving and receiving)
• Support harmonious flow of life and love into past, present, and future generations
• Practice SE tools that can help reset the nervous system back to a more authentic place of being
• Utilize the power of the whole to create a real-time partnership with Self

Paulina García Hubard, SEP Located in Mexico City. The capacity for human transformation, adaptation, and recovery is amazing. Since my adolescence, I have been involved in various therapies and methodologies related to this. For eight years, I worked with the Hakomi method, a psychological therapy based on the use of mindfulness and the idea of mind-body unity. I was an assistant at the International School of Shamanism for three years. Together with Mukara Meredith, I formed and participated in work teams following the Matrixworks model founded by her, which consists of a methodology of developing group dynamics through psychotherapy and holistic systems. I trained with Karin Sorvik, universal Tao instructor, in Chi-Nei-Tsang and more recently fell in love with yoga. This long journey through bodily and spiritual practices and experiences taught me to be in the world in a different way. However, one more radical transformation was missing. In 2014 I started receiving Somatic Experiencing sessions. The change has been gradual and very profound. That is why, in 2015, I started the process of bringing Somatic Experiencing to Mexico, and since I have become an SEP (2018) and am dedicated to generating a healthy Somatic Experiencing community with over 150 members.
