There are very few human beings on this planet who have not sustained some form of developmental trauma. These emotional injuries are important factors that set our capacity for later resilience in the face of potentially traumatizing events. The complexity and fragility of working with this early material can be facilitated by utilizing the tools of Somatic Experiencing®.
A vital factor, often overlooked in healing early trauma, is utilizing archetypes as a vehicle for transformation, and as a way to connect with the Deep Self. This is the part of us that is uninjured; that is pure and Whole (the Innocent). This is the source from which deep healing and self-compassion emanate.
In this Master Class, the developer of Somatic Experiencing®, Peter A Levine Ph.D., will explore the use of archetypes as an embodied resource for helping clients to effectively and safely work through difficult development challenges, insufficiencies, and unmet needs and connect with the enduring flame of the Deep Self.
Discuss basic types of Archetypes, as well as the major stages (and needs) of human development.
Explain how to help your clients identify and embody their own archetypal structures and connect with their heroic journeys.
Utilize embodied, archetypal experiences to more deeply renegotiate developmental traumatic experiences.
Demonstrate how embodied Archetypes can enhance your clinical practice, by helping clients complete disturbed development stages and heal from fractured family dynamics and conflictual relationships.
Evaluate using experiential Archetypal structures as a template for greater client Self- growth, by connecting deeper into their own sense of a more Authentic-Self.
Legacy Faculty
During this time in his life, Dr. Levine is working with and mentoring an esteemed Legacy Faculty to ensure that SE™ Master Classes continue as he slowly retires from teaching. The Legacy Faculty members joining us for this class are Ian Macnaughton, Ph.D. and Abi Blakeslee, Ph.D. Ian holds a private practice in Vancouver, BC, is a Bodynamic Analyst and trainer, and has been a teacher and practitioner of Mind Body and Family Systems Psychotherapy for 45 years. Abi is based in Bozeman, Montana and is a licensed marriage and family therapist, senior Faculty at the Somatic Experiencing® Trauma Institute, and has a focus in evidence-based SE™ research. During the course, Ian and Abi will assist Dr. Levine primarily with exercises and Q&A. We are very honored they will be here to support the class with their master level skills and help enrich and continue Dr. Levine's post-advanced coursework.
