For the past few years, Dr. Levine has heavily relied on Smovey Rings %em; green, corrugated tubes that form “D” shaped loops containing large, free-floating, steel bearings inside %em; as a tool for treatment. He sees them as an effective and elegant method for engaging sensory feedback in the arms, shoulders and upper trunk. This feedback, in his experience, helps generate a sense of mobilization, which counters habitual collapse into a shutdown posture.
In this 18 minute video we are introduced to SE faculty member, Dr. Abi Blakeslee, who provides a thorough guide to utilizing the Smovey rings in clinical practice (including its contraindications). The video also discusses how to utilize the rings along with the Voo sound, another technique that Dr. Levine commonly utilizes in treatment.
